Open Forum: What will Marcelo Huertas' role be with the Lakers?

Marcelo Huertas joined the Lakers last week, and the veteran said he is excited to join one of the most storied franchises in sports history.

The veteran point guard has a wealth of experience playing in Spain in perhaps the world's best league outside of the NBA. He has also played against the best of the best representing Brazil in international competition, including the Olympics.

But what will Huertas' role with the Lakers be?

This is a team already bursting with guard talent, as the Lakers drafted point guard D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall draft pick and return second-year man Jordan Clarkson, one of the NBA's top surprises from the 2014 draft.

They also add Lou Williams to the backcourt, who has a game similar to Nick Young, who also returns. And don't forget future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, who may end up spending a lot of time at small forward this season.

As far as Huertas is concerned, he's got a solid if unconventional outside shot and is a brilliant passer, and Coach Dave Miller has compared his game to that of the dynamic legend Pete Maravich.
